Pete Davidson, Addiction, and High Pressure Environments

Many of us were still in college or working a part-time job when we were 20 years old. Perhaps we had just gotten our feet wet in the real world of work. Pete Davidson was already a regular cast member of the single most popular comedy program of all time by the time he was twenty years old. Davidson made his television debut on Saturday Night Live in 2014, after having been a somewhat successful stand-up comedian for more than seven years prior. Early success, on the other hand, brings with it a natural hazard.

  1. When attempting to do standup, Davidson found that medications like as marijuana were quite helpful.
  2. While the validity of the “gateway drug” notion of marijuana has been put into doubt in recent years, Davidson eventually ventured out into more dangerous substances like heroin and cocaine.

  4. Many well-known comedians who appeared on Saturday Night Live suffered an untimely end as a result of drug addiction.
  5. Despite the fact that Farley and Belushi were both a decade older than Davidson, who is now 23 years old, their stories have an uncanny resemblance to Davidson’s.
  6. Davidson’s tale is not exceptional; many others have been in his position, but he was fortunate in that he sought treatment.
  7. Davidson is live proof that recovery from substance misuse is achievable for people who are already battling with the disease.

As previously reported on “Weekend Update,” Davidsons expressed his desire to go on vacation, saying it would be “the sort of vacation where, like, insurance pays for portion of it, and they take your phone and shoelaces.” At the time, he was said to be in a relationship with model Kaia Gerber. While performing a stand-up act at Carolines on Broadway on Sunday night, Davidson revealed to the audience that he’d been working on some of the jokes while undergoing treatment at the Sierra Tucson facility in Arizona.

Listen to this episode of the Page Six podcast, “We Hear,” for additional information about Pete Davidson’s revelatory stand-up show: “We Hear.” Davidson also talked about having suicidal thoughts during his sold-out show, which was held in a secure location with guests’ phones kept in pouches.

“The audience appeared to be quite supportive of him,” a spy observed.

Davidson, who has a Netflix special coming out soon, offered jokes that would be included in the program, including one about how Louis CK tried to get him fired during his first season on “SNL” when he was 20 years old, according to Davidson.

The revelation of CK’s sexual misconduct controversy didn’t lead to his dismissal, but he recalls being depressed until the “wonderful day” when the news surfaced.

Pete Davidson’s ‘SNL’ Rehab PSA a Double-Edged Sword, Says Alonzo Bodden

TMZ.com Many folks were taken aback when Pete Davidson appeared to announce on ‘SNL’ that he was going to rehab for the holidays – and whether or not he was genuine. Alonzo Bodden has some words of wisdom. In a chance encounter with the comedian at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday, we spoke about what looked to be Pete indicating that he would be checking into a treatment center soon – something he danced around on ‘Weekend Update’ without saying “rehab.” However, it couldn’t have been any more evident.

Having said that, he explains how therapy is different for everyone – since no one enters into rehab for a single reason.

If Pete fits within this group, AB wishes him the best in his future endeavors.

He describes it as a double-edged sword that can pay off handsomely in the long run.
