All American Review: Bring The Pain (Season 2 Episode 5)

Sometimes an episode is so excellent that there aren’t enough appropriate words to adequately describe it. Each and every one of us is an American The episode “Bring The Pain” from Season 2 Episode 5 is one of those instances. This show continues to soar to greater heights with each new episode, and it leaves its audience gasping for air after each performance. “Bring The Pain” is a fitting title for this film; if Spencer blaming himself for Corey’s death isn’t enough to make you cry, Layla’s descent towards rock bottom will most definitely do the trick!

  • In particular, it’s worth noting how meticulously All American is about balancing its stories; the show is always inventing new methods to elicit empathy for each of its primary characters.

  • Spencer James himself is in charge of the campaign, despite the fact that his character’s narrative arc has taken a second seat to other, more significant story lines in Season 2.
  • A number of heavy stories are carried by Daniel Ezra in this episode, and he does it with an exceptional performance that might be regarded a masterclass in acting.
  • Spencer is portrayed with delicate subtlety by Ezra, who manages to make him both the strong heroic lead and the shattered youngster in desperate need of rescue.
  • He does a great job of portraying the tone of strength for Dillon, Coop, his mother, and even Layla.

When a kid loses a parent for the first time, it’s a disaster, but going through that agony a second time feels virtually difficult to bear, especially when Dillon is going through the same ordeal.

That is something I will never do again!

He is not only responsible for his own feelings of abandonment, but also for Dillon’s feelings of abandonment.

Spencer is left without a masculine role model, resulting in what appears to be a void in his life.

Daniel Ezra is once again a genuine force in this film, with Karimah Westbrook proving to be an exceptional scene partner once again.

Even though Spencer is looking for answers regarding Corey, there is one person in his life on whom he can always count on: his mother.

Grace has provided him with all he requires to be successful in life.

Women are indeed capable of doing it all.

  5. It’s possible that admitting Layla to an inpatient facility may force her out of the major narratives, but it feels vital for her character’s development.
  6. Someone like Layla is likely to try manipulation methods in order to redirect attention away from the problem, and her missing father is plainly too embarrassed to take her away.
  7. If she is successful in convincing her father to stay at home, she will not be missing from the program.

You should have stayed in your house.

A therapist and some quality time with her father will be beneficial, but someone who is battling as severely as Layla will require more than simply weekly counseling.

Layla is beginning to see the seriousness of her problems, but this is only the first step in what will be a long and difficult road to rehabilitation; one that is doomed to failure.

The longer she is allowed to continue on her downward spiral, the more people she will continue to harm.

Layla isn’t just a pampered rich girl who doesn’t get what she wants in life.

Depression is a medical condition, not a character weakness.

The prevalence of black teen pregnancy is downplayed in popular culture.

When it comes to Jordan, the tale takes a completely different approach, allowing him to act and respond like a fearful adolescent who has committed a mistake that will ruin his life forever.

Although it is unclear if Simone is genuinely pregnant, providing Michael Evans Behling with heavier material is a welcome change of pace.

It’s not that the comedy should be abandoned.

Samantha Logan stars as Olivia in the fifth episode of All American Season 2.

Chemistry can be difficult to achieve, but Logan and Behling have the ideal sibling dynamic–snarky, playful, and completely lovable.

They have the ideal brother/sister connection; one that thrives on clever banter while still being rooted in true friendship.

Olivia: Jordan–Jordan: What are you talking about?

Olivia Baker is the type of person who knows how to be a good friend.

Jordan is preoccupied with his own concerns, and Layla is unable to comprehend Olivia’s good intentions despite her best efforts.

During her talk with Layla, she makes it abundantly obvious that Spencer is now too preoccupied with family issues (and Rochelle, for some reason) to provide an adequate support system at this time.

And they’re making it extremely tough not to cheer for them, thanks to All American.

His concern for her sobriety and his thoughtfulness in remembering her birthday by giving her a burner phone are both evidence of this.

The fact that she has programmed in her sponsor, anticipating that she may need to contact them, really hammers the point home.

After asking Olivia whether she would want to be kissed, Asher offers her the opportunity to refuse before he makes his move.

It’s an extraordinarily electrically charged moment– one that makes the concept of consent enticing, as well as being really romantic.

At least for the time being.

Rochelle and Spencer are developing a connection that is less intriguing than the one that is developing between them.

They shouldn’t be treated as if they were mere story gadgets.

She doesn’t seem to have any other motivation than to please her father, which doesn’t seem like much of a motivation at all.

In contrast to his initial reaction of incredulous fury, Spencer’s disclosure makes him feel more connected to her.

To the contrary, the two are diametrically opposed; Rochelle is struggling with her father being overly involved in her life, whilst Spencers is absolutely absent.

Alternatively, her character reads as an insert to progress the storyline; that is, or as a means of creating another split in the already disintegrating Spencer/Layla romance tale.

There is nothing new about evil boosters with ulterior motivations in programs about high school football, and there are many more relevant subjects on the table right now.

What is likely to be considerably more intriguing is the emerging dynamic between antagonists Spencer and Darnell, who are working toward the same objective of uncovering out why Corey truly fled South Crenshaw. That’s a fresh connection that’s worth getting to know. Observations and musings:

  • Greta Ogeniou’s delivery of the line “guess who broke me?” was heartbreakingly wonderful
  • “Bring The Pain” was a terrific episode, but it lacked more Coop
  • And “Bring The Pain” was a fantastic episode, but it required more Coop. Making the decision to have Dillon read Corey’s parting letter was such a wonderful and imaginative option
  • JJ is always going above and beyond. He was being particularly egregious by abducting the twins in broad daylight like that. The fact that Daniel Ezra can execute emotionally charged sequences while maintaining a beautiful American accent is very remarkable
  • Billy should not be blaming Laura for everything that is occurring in their family. Besides, she wouldn’t be a single mom if her husband didn’t cheat and lie on her
  • She’s doing the best she can for her children. Because I am a white woman, I don’t believe it is appropriate for me to talk on the moment where Spencer rejects Cliff. That being said, it was really poignant, and it deserves to be mentioned

This gave her the opportunity to devise a plan to place narcotics aboard Coop’s tour bus while having police officers ready to apprehend her.

This resulted with Mo shooting Coop, but Preach (Kareem J.

The conclusion of All Americanseason 3 does not reveal whether or not Coop or Mo survived this time, but it does not appear to be a good sign for any of them.

Meanwhile, Preach runs to Coop’s side to attempt to halt the bleeding, but she is also suffering from a bullet wound to the chest as well.

Because of her significance to the tale of All American, it is reasonable to assume that Coop will survive, whereas Mo’s villain scheme may have already come to an end.

South Crenshaw and Beverly Hills’ State Championship Doesn’t Happen (Yet)

It seemed like the whole third season of All American was building up to the possibility of South Crenshaw and Beverly Hills squaring battle in the state final. Despite the fact that both teams had their highs and lows during the season, people were expecting the schools to meet again in the season finals. However, the conclusion of All Americanseason 3 sets up this game to be contested in season 4 when an argument between the teams almost results in the game being called off entirely. Because of some extremely hot tempers on both sides, a brawl broke out outside the stadium between Crenshaw and Beverly’s players.

The altercation left key players on both sides bloodied and injured, but coaches Billy Baker (Taye Diggs) and Montes (Alexandra Barreto) lied to the referees in order to ensure that the game would still go on as scheduled.

Spencer James and Jordan Baker Become All-Americans

Additionally, Spencer and Jordan received some encouraging news in the season 3 finale of All American. Billy informs Spencer early in the episode that he has been named to the All-American squad as a result of his exceptional performance this season. Spencer James is named a high school All-American athlete in this episode, which finally fulfills the promise of the show’s title. While this first causes Jordan to be envious of Spencer and to be resentful of the head injury that forced him to miss a significant portion of the season, he also receives some encouraging news at the conclusion of the episode.

The All-American game will very certainly be included in the fourth season of All American.

DeSean Jackson’s All-American Cameo Explained

One of the most unexpected aspects of All American’s season 3 finale was the appearance of NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson. In the conclusion, he appears as himself and travels to Crenshaw to attend Spencer’s party in celebration of being chosen an All-American. Billy says that DeSean has been keeping a close eye on Spencer’s progress over the year. In actual life, DeSean does not have a working relationship with Spencer Paysinger, but the reason for his appearance in the All Americanfinale is due to his connection to Crenshaw, as shown in the episode.

As one of Crenshaw’s most talented home-grown athletes, his appearance in All Americanseason 3 serves to emphasize his significance to the community while also better integrating the program with reality.

What Is Carrie Planning To Do To Layla?

Another cliffhanger that All Americanseason 3 leaves fans with is what will happen to Layla in the coming months (Greta Onieogou). Among the highlights of the second half of the season has been the return of Carrie (Anna Lore), a girl Layla had met while in recovery and been friends with earlier in the season. Despite the fact that Carrie has been living with Layla for some time, Layla is angered when she confesses that she phoned Carrie’s parents. Carrie feels deceived by Layla’s activities, despite the fact that she is only trying to aid Carrie and her family.

Layla’s father, JP Keating (Ray Campbell), received a message from Carrie, in which she stated that Layla would never return, and she disposed of Layla’s phone in order to ensure that no one could reach her.

Carrie might be preparing to abduct Layla in order to ensure that she would not be able to abandon her, or she could be intending to harm herself and take Layla’s life with her as a result of her actions.

Asher’s Football Career Is Over

Asher Adams had a rollercoaster journey at the All Americanseason 3 finale (Cody Christian). It all started with him receiving a full-ride football scholarship to attend Coastal California University. His hopes of continuing to play football at the university level, on the other hand, appear to have been dashed. Before Beverly Hills took the field to play in the state championship game, Asher’s father emerged in the locker room, tears in his eyes, and informed his son that he would not be able to participate.

Asher was sent to the hospital for X-rays after taking a heavy hit in the center of the field during a full-contact practice two days before the championship game.

There is a devastating conclusion to Asher’s narrative in season 3, which follows his recovery from the steroid incident that occurred in season 2 and his transition onto the defensive line.

Who Will Win The State Championship Game In Season 4?

Based on everything that occurred throughout All Americanseason 3 and its conclusion, the state championship game between South Crenshaw and Beverly Hills will be considerably different from what was anticipated. Because fans will have to wait until season 4 to find out who will be victorious, it’s simple to look ahead and predict about who will be victorious – and the advantage should be in Crenshaw’s favor, according to the odds. Despite the fact that Crenshaw does not have the show’s main character on its roster, the team has the advantage of having the major character on its roster.

  • Conversely, Crenshaw has the upper hand, with Spencer memorizing Beverly’s entire playbook while training Jordan, and Billy being the only person who is familiar with Jordan’s habits and limitations.
  • As a result, All American has developed a narrative and on-field arguments for why Crenshaw should win the state title when season 4 begins in September.
